New Report: How America Can Achieve Nuclear Energy Dominance
The Center for the National Interest is pleased to share a new report, “How America Can Achieve Nuclear Energy Dominance: Recommendations to Implement President Trump’s Policy Agenda,” released in partnership with Energy Innovation Reform Project. This forward-looking document outlines how the United States can revitalize its nuclear energy sector to meet rising domestic demand, compete internationally, and support national security and economic objectives. President Donald Trump’s four recent executive orders emphasized nuclear energy’s role as a strategic asset—and this report offers a thoughtful and serious effort to make the most of America’s strengths and today’s opportunities.
The report is the product of the bipartisan Working Group on U.S. Nuclear Energy Dominance, which includes leaders from across the energy, policy, financial, legal, and technical communities. Todd Abrajano, President and CEO of the United States Nuclear Industry Council, chaired the group; Paul J. Saunders, President of the Center for the National Interest, and Samuel Thernstrom, CEO of the Energy Innovation Reform Project, served as co-directors.
“How America Can Achieve Nuclear Energy Dominance” provides focused, practical recommendations grounded in extensive consultation with experts from key stakeholders. It reflects a strong consensus on the steps needed to help American companies deploy next-generation reactors at home and abroad, rebuild and rethink the U.S. fuel cycle, and maintain a skilled nuclear workforce—among other key goals.
