Russia’s Strategy in the Middle East

On March 2, the Center for the National Interest hosted a round table discussion of Russia’s strategy in the Middle East, with a special focus on its intervention in the Syrian Civil War. Fiona Hill, Director of the Center for the United States and Europe program at the Brookings Institution, began the discussion with introductory remarks. The event was the third in a series of meetings planned by Regional Security Program Senior Director Geoffrey Kemp focusing on strategic realignment in the Middle East and North Africa region and was attended by a group of experienced academic and governmental experts in the field.
