Senior Fellow Greg Priddy Discusses Global Economic Impacts of Iran Conflict at Quincy Institute Event
On March 19, 2026, Center for the National Interest Senior Fellow for the Middle East, Greg Priddy, participated in a panel discussion hosted by the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft. The event, titled “How Badly Could the War Against Iran Hurt the Global South?”, examined the escalating economic and geopolitical spillover from the current conflict in the Middle East.
Priddy joined experts Rachel Ziemba and Karthik Sankaran to discuss the disruption of global energy markets, specifically focusing on the risks to the Strait of Hormuz. The panelists covered the dramatic spike in energy prices and the threat posed by the closure of the Strait to the world’s supply of fertilizer just ahead of planting season.
