The Center for the National Interest hosted a panel discussion entitled “Iran’s Protests and U.S. Responses” on January 22. Speakers included Thomas Pickering, current vice chair of Hills & Company and a former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs and former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, India, Russia, Israel, El Salvador, Jordan and Nigeria; and Reul Marc Gerecht, a senior fellow at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies and a former Middle East expert with the CIA’s Directorate of Operations. Jacob Heilbrunn, editor of The National Interest, moderated.
